Connect First FOUNDER
Katie Mega, LCSW, RPT
I’m so glad you’re here. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Registered Play Therapist (RPT), I feel privileged to work alongside children and families during some of the most trying times. I believe deeply in leading with curiosity and respect, find change occurs best in connection and relationship, and strive to assist families in building confidence through meaningful exploration and support of your child and family.
More specifically, using evidence-based practices like Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), Family Play Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), parents will be left empowered with knowledge, confident in using new strategies in daily interactions, and children will find love, respect, and confidence for themselves.
Through treatment, you’ll find guidance in managing distressing emotions, coping with tough behaviors, and developing everyones potential in meeting needs and wants more effectively.
If you’re ready to learn how to best support your child, I’m here.

MY APPROACH
What exactly do you do?
I help families, kids and teens who feel anxious, frustrated and overwhelmed. I equip families with tools to understand what’s happening, why it’s happening, and what to do about it. That means looking at how the brain works and how you can best work with it, exploring patterns of interaction in your family and how needs get expressed and met. We’ll also practice ways to use effective strategies at home.
If you prefer specifics, I use the best of evidence-based practices like Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT). I enjoy incorporating expressive arts and sand tray therapy to effectively target and process areas of concern. These techniques help you change patterns in boundaries and limit-setting, create an intentional family culture, and understand how you work individually and as a family.
