SUPPORT FOR EVERY SEASON
Through treatment, you’ll find guidance in managing distressing emotions, coping with tough behaviors, and developing everyones potential in meeting needs and wants more effectively.
CHILD PLAY THERAPY
Yes, play can be fun and enjoyable. But more importantly, we know it has the ability to facilitate expression, foster understanding of self, and develop skills to support positive relationships, creative thinking, regulation of emotions, and boosting of confidence (it’s THAT good!)
We also know kids use play to process their experiences, to practice what they’re learning, and to problem-solve in an effort to build NEW ways of responding in difficult situations.
This approach allows for the child to lead, activation of the brain, and allowing for deeper connection and change then could be achieved through talking alone.
Play therapy will incorporate a parent component, meeting to evaluate progress, and developing skills for the home setting.
Play therapy is likely ideal for kids aged 3- 10.

TWEENS AND TEENS
So much is happening in their brains!! Although, Teens and Tweens can do more productive talking than younger kids, often they still need some playful elements to help get the best results.
I’ve found that this age, has responded significantly to using alternative forms of play therapy such as expressive art techniques and sandtray therapy.
Most importantly, I’m passionate about providing a connected environment to work collaboratively with teens and their family to create a safe place to express their wants, needs, thoughts, and desires more effectively. Feeling heard, seen, and understood is a HUGE challenge (this is a very turbulent time in life!) AND there are techniques we can take from neuroscience in helping them learn how to best take care of themselves.
Teen and Tween therapy also has a similar parent component, incorporating joint and/or adult-only sessions, to boost good communication and build confidence in your interactions with your delicate teen.
FAMILY THERAPY
Sometimes, an outside perspective can change everything. You can’t always see things clearly from the inside or know how to communicate effectively with the ones you love most.
Sometimes it takes someone on the outside to guide you, so you can begin to do something about it. That’s where family therapy can be so helpful!
We will focus on identifying what keeps your family “stuck.” Then we can work together to help everyone do their part in changing things.
